    Emotion & Danger

This is book two in this series and to get all of Liam and Samantha's story you must first read book one, Overture. If you are a fan of the forbidden romance trope I don't think that you can not enjoy this series. The complex combination of long fought desires, angst, steamy passion, drama, tension, suspense, danger, humor and intense emotions quickly pull you back into this couple's story. I like both these characters. Both have emotional baggage and their complicated history adds another big burden on to the already epic sized pile. The story does make some progress with this book but not as much progress as I would have liked. We do get some questions answered, Samantha matures a bit more and Liam shares some of the darkness of his past with her. In the end though the push-pull, cycle of surrender to desire and guilt is still very much in effect. I would be lying if I didn't say that I am concerned about this couple realistically finding happiness. Liam loves Samantha. The love he feels for her is intense, deep and in many ways profound. He is consumed by it and tormented by it. Samantha loves him but does she love him enough. If I consider her actions in this book, I'm left wondering if she does. Liam is tragically broken. Her love has to be strong and powerful enough to accept his flaws because love is not the cure all to fix him. His scars are too deep and the damage too extreme. Do prepare yourself for the cliffhanger because there is another one to be survived before things wrap up in book three. The narrators again did a stellar job of bringing every nuance to life in this taught, emotional romance. (less)

    Book 2 certainly didn't disappoint...

Skye Warren has done it again! Concerto will give you all the feels, put you through the wringer and spit you out a completely different person. The angst and passion between Liam and Samantha will cause you to practically stop breathing every time they're even in the same building. You can practically feel their longing and the invisible strings that connect them in every word written. Samantha has left Liam's house, but never his protection. While he tries to stay away and allow her to spread her wings while preparing for her first concert tour he eventually finds it impossible to /stay away. After the shocking realization that Samantha's father may actually still be alive and may even be a threat to her, Liam decides that he can no longer entrust her safety to his team alone and demands to protect her himself. But will their romantic relationship survive Samantha's emotional growth spurt and independence or will they succumb to rising environmental pressures? Can Liam ever move past the guilt of being her parental guardian and accept his evolution to a romantic lover? It's so much fun to see so many characters from Skye's previous books who reside in and around Tanglewood make appearances in Concerto. She has this fantastic way of giving the reader tiny updates on the lives of some of our most favourite people, heroes and villains alike, and it's a real treat to see what they've been up to while we've been engrossed in other stories from this unbelievable author. It's honestly one of my favourite aspects of her novels. I honestly can't wait to see what happens in book 3 and I'll be waiting with bated breath until its release. I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

    Intensely emotional!

Skye Warren beautifully captures the desperation and longing between the sheltered violin prodigy and her damaged, intensely protective former guardian.

    Music for the heart!

This book was so good – I mean, it was, I need to sleep and am so tired, but I stayed up until 4 am to finish it good. You know in a trilogy, the second book is sometimes that wonderful creamy centre, big on decadence, high on gooey goodness, but without a lot of substance to fill you up? Yeah, the is NOT the case here, because this book is better than the first, this book doesn’t even feel like it is in a trilogy, it is a complete, hair-raising, edge-of-your-seat-sitting, make-you-squirm-in-all-the-right-ways, AMAZING!!! Samantha matures in this story. She has been sheltered, really her whole life, and has gladly stood back and let her life happen. She grows in this book, she learns her power, she finds her strength, and, by the end, she knows her way, and while so many things aren’t clear, her way is with Liam Liam also finally comes to some realizations in this story. He is strong, he has endured, and he must look after Samantha, no matter what. She isn’t his weakness though; she is what gives him purpose. Stubborn and unseeing for so much of the story, when clarity finally occurs to him by the end, you can almost hear the strength with these two in sync click into place This book is dark, yeah some of the content is, but it feels like it is dark. Not in a mist, in the shadows, with the little bit of light there is, reflecting and seeming more than it is. Samantha and Liam give off heat that burns when they are together, but they don’t give off any light. A few rays shine on them for a few moments, and then they are snuffed out, covered, blocked. This doesn’t deter them though, they feel each other, seek out each other, and cannot be denied the other. They are not a doomed coupling; they are the couple that will take anyone who stands against them. Now that they know that, watch out! p.s. What is up with Josh??? and when can I get more #intrigued
