  • A thoughtful romance

Those who are more familiar with Mary Balogh's more recent long novels grouped into series will recognise her voice very clearly in this re-issue of an earlier work. There are strong secondary characters and a very believable pair of principle ones. I've already read it twice and will probably read it again before the next of her re-issues comes out in a couple of months, as it will be following one of the secondary characters from this one. As ever the period and place details are spot on - no chipmunks in English woods or seaside resorts in Surrey or references to people or books or foods or inventions that were actually unknown at the time.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • Courting Julia

As always Mary Balogh creates believable people with real emotions. Apart from their clothing they could be our neighbours.
