    Not great

It was thinly held together and poorly written. It seemed like a junior high school essay. I did not enjoy this book. Even the plot was weak

    The Hated Body

I am starting to wonder if this theme was given as an exercise to a creative writing group, this is the fourth or fifth version of the same basic storyline. Hotel, scream heard which is denied by rooms inhabitant, inhabitant is murdered, several suspects, lottery ticket worth millions is the motive, hotel in financial trouble. To be fair the killer is usually different in every version, equally of all the different stories only one stands out and that is because it was the first one, the second might be a coincidence, by the third it is becoming old hat, by the fifth it is a bore. The characters are two dimensional, the ranks in the police force are odd, a police inspector, a sergeant, a private. More a combination of British police and army ranks than the ones usually found in US forces. Different.

    Disappointing

I could not, in all honesty, suggest that anyone read this book. When I first began reading it I thought that it was written by a (very young!) teenager... But as I continued to read the story I realised that I was wrong. This book is full of errors, both grammatical and literal. The 'Chief of Police' was Superior whilst his sidekick was 'Inferior'!! Completely incorrect. The police officer and the medical examiner acted as children throughout - why? Are they not supposed to be on the same side? I soon grew bored of the fact that the police officers were exhausted, tired, confused - to say-the-least. This author does not appear to have the required vocabulary which is necessary to write a book. Free?! Hmm!! I'd honestly rather not bother.

    Interesting

Enjoyable murder mystery of the "old school" variety solved by the detective who never sleeps. Interesting characters, any one of whom could be the guilty party, with a surprise ending.
