  • Neither here nor there

Well, it told a story that kept me interested. I picked it up because I read that it imitated Carlos's in Fife, where I once lived. I might read a few more when I need light reading. But to keep my attention it will need more literary pizazz.

  • A quirky mystery.

Found the story started off slowly, but then the complexity of the mystery began to be exposed, bit by bit. What may have seemed an obvious clue would lead in an unexpected direction, or implicate a character that hadn't been considered. As this is the start of a series, the few "loose ends" left dangling hold out promise for even more quirky sleuthing. As well, Peartree's occasional turn of phrase or humorous line added to the enjoyment.

    Thanks for your feedback!
