  • Completely hooked

The Maeve Kerrigan series just gets better and better. The writing and story line has me hooked from page 1.

  • Love this series

I've read all the books in the series. Jane Casey is one of the few authors who makes me stay up late reading. She is such a good writer, and she seems to know a lot about English police investigations and crime scenes. The resolution to the mystery in this book did surprise me. Her real strength is in her characters, especially narrator Maeve and her boss Josh Derwent. There's a great scene where Maeve spends the night at her parents' home and then strings Derwent along so he thinks she was with a man. She could have just told him the truth - but where's the fun in that? Despite a plot twist I disliked (when Maeve ignores her instincts) and a particular scene involving dishwashing liquid that I found unbelievable, this was a great read. My one concern is that we seem to be moving toward a Maeve/Derwent romance, which I do not want. I'm still hoping to see Rob back in the picture, and I enjoyed X-Files a lot more when Mulder and Scully were just friends and colleagues. Will definitely read the next book!

    Thanks for your feedback!
