  • Another Great Read from Verna Clay!

Another great romantic historical western by Verna Clay with a wagon train of pioneers going from St. Louis, Mo to Willamette Valley in Oregon during the spring of 1866 as the colorful background. Newly widowed mother Hallie Wells hires former Union soldier and new farmer Cooper Jerome to accompany and protect her and her 8year old son Timmy on the journey to Oregon. Ms. Clay's story telling is so engaging and descriptive that you are there in the moment with the wagon train pioneers as they make the arduous and sometimes deadly journey to a new land and a new life. I found myself fully invested in the trials and tribulations, the joys and sorrows, the laughter and tears of the secondary characters as well as the main characters of this thoroughly satisfying western saga. This is the first title in the Cry of the West series, but there are no cliffhangers and it can be read as a stand alone.

    Thanks for your feedback!
