  • Too much swearing

I love Mary Walsh, so I bought this book soon after it came out. Reading it, though ... I just couldn't get past all the foul language. It didn't seem necessary and I found it very distracting. Couldn't finish it, but maybe I'll try again some other time.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • Disappointing

I really like Mary Walsh, but this book was disappointing. The language was pretty foul, there was little character development and the plot just seemed repetitive

  • Just life, at its worst and best

A really good read! I actually read it from start to finish over 2 days (while I really should have been doing other things ;-) ) Very real characters who Mary Walsh has developed with both compassion and ruthlessness.

  • I don't know how I feel about it

This novel reminded me very much of Heather O'Neil's style. The somehow nonsensical, yet completely logical sequence of events, of dialogue, of character development... I do want to give this novel a high rating, even though some parts seemed a bit unsatisfying. But I suppose that's just my disappointment in the injustices that happen to Maureen, such as her mother never getting what she deserved. Ugh... what a nightmare of a character. So, although at times the story seemed meh, I enjoyed the ending and the novel as a whole.

    Thanks for your feedback!
