  • A first in a new series that delivers

Once again this author sweeps the readers back to a time long ago in Ireland. This story ensnares one from the first pages and keeps the momentum until the last pages. Enjoyed the characters and as this is the first book to a new series, am looking forward to reading more in this series. Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Sensational! Ashley dialed my number, rang my bell and blew me clean out of the water with this skillfully composed debacle, serving up fearsome facts, tangible truths and ruthless pursuits, keeping you riveted on a razors edge and frozen to your seat, propelling this gem to staggering heights. Anarchy runs rampant and mayhem is rife, broken boundaries and dissolved limitations are amplified and exploited, showcasing the greedy quirks and defying bents, reaching deep for every ounce of strength in a fierce surge of determination, bursting this baby to life brilliantly. Caught in devious scheme of captivating drama, perilous intrigue, underlying currents, cruel brutality, sinister intents, escalating danger spiraling suspense and intense situations, along with a boatload of revelations, you have one mind-blowing experience. The characters, banter, dialogue, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow, adding depth and diversity, transforming into outstanding personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and graphic descriptions creating an elaborate backdrop that feels as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Ashley, thanks for sharing this amazing thrill with us.

The writing wasn’t terrible but there were plot points that were rushed and not thoroughly thought out. The romance aspect left much to desire. Besides the on-going sexual tension between Aednat and Diarmuid that was on point, I didn't see much of a connection. More so, the side characters were a bit of an annoyance, and unless I missed something by skimming the dull and boring scenes, why didn’t Diarmuid reprimanded his own mother for setting up Aednat kidnapping and nearly having her rape? Who brushes that aside? Nonetheless, I wish I could say this wowed me. It was not terrible but would say it was mediocre at best.
