Another fantastic book from Donna Grant! Revisiting the Reapers and following their quest to be rid of Bran makes me so eager for the next instalment. Don't leave us hangin'! The next book soon, please 😀

  • "Dark Alpha's Night" - Book 5 - The Reapers series

I finished reading this book June 25, 2018. This is my review. I really enjoyed this addition to the Reaper series. It's about Daire and Ettie. Daire is not a new character but Ettie is. Daire has been in all the Reaper books plus he's in some of the Dark Kings novels as a secondary character. If you have not read the Dark Kings series, that's completely fine. You can read this story as a stand alone but you would enjoy it more if you read the Reaper series from the beginning for story line cohesion and character information. In this story, Daire is told by Death to stop following Rhi (a Fae in the Dark Kings series) and to start to try to figure out how to defeat Bran, an ex-Reaper. When Daire discovers that Bran has living descendants and that they may be Halflings, he jumps at the chance to recruit them. If he can get them on Death's side/the Reapers side, they may just have a chance kill Bran and in so doing, safe Death. The last thing he expected was to start to have feelings for one of them; Ettie. Ettie has spent her life training and keeping herself and her two sisters, in tip top shape. "You must always be ready" is something her father always told her. But what are they supposed to be ready for? Ettie and her sisters know their Fae heritage but have never benefited from it. And they've never even see in a Fae in all their years. Until now. Now, she's surrounded by Fae. But who's telling the truth? Bran or Daire? It's hard to make a decision when everything you've been told about the Fae is wrong. I enjoyed this story. I was really happen that Daire finally got his happily ever after. New information is given about Death and why she's loosing her magic. We also learn about her violent past. The chemistry between Daire and Ettie was good. Both characters were interesting and Ettie shows a lot of personal growth in this story. Excellent fight scene at the end with Bran. That's not really a spoiler since every book has a showdown with Bran. I LOVED the teaser at the end of this book, teasing us with a tiny look at what is happening to Eoghan (Oh-un), who disappeared in the last book. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more about the Reapers!

  • paranormal romantic suspense

I was lucky enough to get in on this spin-off series from the beginning BUT sometimes wish that I had started from the beginning of this wonderfully crafted world filled with stories of warriors, dragons, fae, halflings and others…it is enchanting and enthralling and makes me eager to read whatever comes next…even when I am not 100% sure what the storyline was before the book I am currently reading. I will sometimes search out reviews of books that precede a book I am getting ready to read so that I have some idea of what has preceded…that said… I loved this book! I am engaged in the series I want to read the story of each and every Reaper I am eager to find out if Death/War/Erith and Cael with ever get their HEA I really REALLY want to get the entire series at some point in time and read them from beginning to end This series would make a WONDERFUL TV series ;) Okay…the story… It is Daire’s turn to find true love and he finds it with a Halfling, Ettie, who has been raised with her sisters “to be ready” – for what – they have not a clue. So they have trained in the art of war and waited and now it is time for them to become embroiled in the war brewing between Bran and Erith… So much happened in a novella length story and all of it was good. Daire and Ettie ended up together. Bran was thwarted again. Insights were given into how Bran is increasing his power and Death is losing hers. We learned more about Death and a bit more about her time before she took on the moniker Death. There was mention of characters in other series and what I found most intriguing was the simple way the previous characters’ stories were shared so that a newbie to the series would not be totally lost. Did I like this story? Yes Do I recommend it? Yes Will I read more by this author? Definitely Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

  • Dark Alpha's Night

The Reapers are on a race to find the Half-Fae before their enemy finds them in this thrilling action packed Reaper story. Donna Grant keeps her Dark World full of exciting and surprising twists, lots of adrenaline pumping action, thrilling suspense and fascinating characters and the Reapers are an exhilarating part of that world that brings more of the Dark World to life ensuring that readers can never get enough. Every time I read another book in this electrifying world I become a part of it and have a grand adventure that provides lots of fantasy material for sexy hunks and dreamy romance. Dark Alpha’s Night is a brilliant story in the Reaper series, it is full of surprises and keeps readers on the edge of their seat in anticipation while providing readers with an excellent romance that has fiery sparks flying in every direction along with some emotional turbulence that adds depth to the story. I was completely caught up in the fast paced and suspenseful plot from the very beginning and couldn’t put it down until I had read every last detail. I sure can’t wait to visit the Dark World again when Torched releases in May.

  • Loved it!

I think this is my favorite of the series so far. I loved Daire with Ettie. His was instantly drawn to her. After descriptions of her two sisters being more beautiful, I like that he only saw her. He thought she was the most beautiful woman he has met. What's not to love about that? Ettie's background made for a fascinating story line. She and her sisters are halflings. Her father has passed down the knowledge of Fae and that they must train for war and be ready. Since the Reapers and Death can not kill Bran, they need to find descendants of Bran who can. We learn that Ettie and her sisters are descendants of one of Brans children. Just as Daire and the Reapers track them down, so has Bran. Daire must convince the sisters to side with the Reapers against Bran. We are not at the end yet. Not everything is resolved but we are getting closer. You will want to read this series in order. This is a contented storyline with a lot of the same characters as well as new ones.
