  • Enchanting!

The second part of the trilogy. If you have the time, try to read the 3 books of the trilogy: House of Spirits-Daughter of Fortune-Portrait in Sepia one after the other, because the stories and characters overlap each other. The way that Allende describes the characters and the moments they go through, makes you feel part of the story. I love how Allende portrays women as strong, decided and strong willed, despite of the era.

  • Daughter of Fortune

Isabel Allende has an amazing ability to promote the story's development with a calm haste enabling the reader to appreciate what is happening without losing interest. Her references to future developments are subtle yet provide the reader with a strong desire to ask, "how?" It reads easily.
