  • Wonderful start to a new series

In a post-apocalyptic world take a genetically altered information broker and a supersoldier trying to set things right for his men, add their ride-or-die sisters and brothers in their (found)family and put them on an epic road trip. Kit Rocha has created a wonderful read. I loved the way this book flowed. Information from The Franklin Center for Genetic Research and Techcorps provided background information on the characters in a world where the government has collapsed, the infrastructure grid is gone, corporations control everything and people living on the margins are struggling to learn how to do things for themselves. In this world librarians are worth their weight in gold. (Can we get writers to include health care, universal basic income and a female president in their books? Just a thought. KThxBye) Deal With The Devil is set in the same world as The Beyond series. There is a mention of a to a crate of liquor that the Silver Devils sometimes use to barter for goods or services. I have verified that the Okane liquor remains unscathed. The mention felt like an Easter egg find [smile!]. There are cage fights, a road trip and two people were meant to be together. Heat level is 2 Stars (it is nothing compared to parties in Sector 4). Writing is 5 stars. I loved this book so much I read it in hard copy format (the only ARC copy I could access). My eyes hated me for it but it was worth it. I look forward to reading more in this series.

  • Deal with the Devil was great fun!

I loved the whole concept of this book. I mean, what could be cooler than mercenary librarians trying to help out the regular people in a post apocalyptic time where the flares have destroyed so much data and there is an evil corporation trying to control everything? Nina, Dani, and Maya are three tough women who have been hired by the Silver Devils to get a RLOC bunker but there is more going on. It leads to much excitement and violence and even some more romantic feelings. I liked the story and all the fights and camaraderie between the characters but I felt that the romance was a bit sudden for a Nina and Knox. I am probably a bit too cynical though and so I am sure others will find it just fine. I do like also that it did not end on a big cliffhanger though there is a little hook at the end that definitely makes me want to continue the series. This was a fun book and I enjoyed diving into it (bar the romance).

  • High octane action in a dystopian future

Deal with the Devil is set in a future US in the Atlanta area in the 2080s. Solar flares and storms in the 2040s damaged infrastructure and destabilized the government. Energy wars followed. The southeastern US is controlled by a corporation called TechCorps. There is no regulation of genetic engineering, human experimentation and biometric implants. There is more cruelty than kindness, and corporations are more important than people. Nina is an escaped genetically engineered clone and leads a group of three women. They are a team of information brokers who try to save and distribute books and help their community. Garrett leads a squad of soldiers, the Silver Devils, who defected from the TechCorps. All of the characters are wanted by TechCorps and have a price on their head. They have special abilities so it's like reading about superheroes. Deal with the Devil has non-stop action and intrigue and really cool tech. A steamy yet conflicted romance develops between Nina and Garrett. The banter between the characters is fun and humorous. It was a great read and I'm really looking forward to the next book.

  • Deal with the Devil

A fast paced mesmerizing read. I ad a hard time putting it down. Characters are interesting and real. This is not always my favourite genre but this author is one of the best. Keeps you on the edge of your seat.

  • Really enjoyed this

This was one of those books where you don’t want to turn the page a few times, because you just don’t know how the current situation can turn out well, but you eventually do, and there is an unpredictable twist that pulls it all together, again. We care about the characters, the protagonists grow and change, what more could you ask?
