    Interested to read on

I liked the characters in this (the first of a new series) and will be interested to read on. The basic premise is intriguing (a town where deities give up their powers - temporarily - to go on vacation incognito...and the family of law enforcement officers who're tasked with makin sure they don't get out of hand). The story was a fun mix of humour, action and romance. I did get very tired of the main protagonist's macking on her main love interest (although their on again/off again relationship was of interest I thought that part was waaay overwritten). The book as a whole wad reasonably well paced (apart from the aforementioned overlong pauses to ogle) and well edited as well, especially by comparison with many works in this very prolific subgenre. I particularly liked the way in which some loose ends were tied off but others left unresolved - a well-judged blend to satisfy the reader but encourage reading on... Which I'm about to do :-)

Great start for a new series!

I really like the tone of the story and all the characters of Ordinary. The chemistry between Delaney and Ryder is awesome too!

Gods & Monsters vacation in small town

I loved this book! Loved everything about it!! Can't wait to read the next book in this series, which I suspect will become a new favourite! There is a really unique and clever twist in the world-building in this story. The combination of creatures [vampires, werewolves] and gods all living together in a small Oregon town, where gods come to take a vacation from their powers offers some really interesting story-arc opportunities. I love the Reed sisters. They are a perfect selection of personalities, roles, and their "special skill" is also a neat aspect of the world they live in. Delaney especially is a great combination of strength, determination and kick-ass, while also dealing with all the usual troublesome emotions the rest of us have. She is a really likable character and someone it is easy to root for. Her sisters offer some fun comic relief even while they support and assist Delaney in carrying the big responsibility she inherited from their father. The small town aspect of the story, combined with the supernaturals who live or visit there is just the perfect situation of weird and boring that anyone who's lived in or lives in the same kind of town now will recognize and appreciate. Honestly, I loved everything about this book, and highly recommend it to anyone who likes supernatural fiction with strong female characters, a quirky sort of world-building, and plenty of well written humour.
