  • Social work and crime fiction - yippee!

Hanne Wilhelmsen is a superb character: struggling to keep her relationship separate from her work life as she thinks outside the box over her latest case. The case unfolds at a good pace and as it does we slowly learn about Hanne herself. Anne Holt lives up to the genre and balances the crime with the personal very well. And as a social worker watching it all unfurl in an out of home care facility in a Nordic nation is fascinating.... I’m addicted to this series!!!

  • Death of the Demon

All of Anne Holt's books are really well written. This one is no exception. Well paced, detailed and thoughtful the story deals with the death of the female in charge of a children's home, the children themselves and one new child who has major difficulties with relating with other children and adults. Who did murder Agnes? Was it one of the staff, children or an outsider? Anne Hot at her best.
