    Fantastic

Since discovering Scarlett Cole a couple of years ago I have read every book she's written and she has yet to let me down. This book is another in a long line of fantastic reads from her. It's the third book in the Love Over Duty series but it is easily read standalone. As with the other books in the series it is action packed, has a romance that is sizzling, and definitely leaves you wanting more. Although we've met Cabe in prior books we really get to know him in this one and he is definitely worth getting to know. You don't want to miss this book. It is excellently written, has nail biting suspense, and swoon worthy characters making it an entertaining read. I highly recommend it.

    Enjoyed!

We've gotten to know Cabe, the hero, in the previous two books. He is part of the Eagle Securities team along with Six and Mac, the heroes from book 1 & 2. Amy, the heroine, is an FBI agent and new to the series. We have continued side characters that have been in previous books. The biggest thing we have learned about Cabe that affects this book is that he lost his fiance while she was on active duty two years prior. I'm a bit conflicted when a deceased significant other is involved. On one hand, I don't want to see a main character pining for anyone other than their love interest in the book. On the other hand, it also shows how the new love interest was able to help them move on when no one else could. I think the author did a good job of creating a balance with Cabe. He was still mourning his deceased fiance but he also recognized that Amy was different and there was something real there. I also like how the author had each book with their own storyline that ultimately tied all three of the books together. Overall, this is a great romantic suspense series that I have enjoyed.

    4 Star Deep

Cabe Moss is an ex – Navy SEAL that never lets his past interfere with work but when he’s pushed to team up FBI agent Amy Murray he wants to do more than complete their mission together. Born ready for this assignment, Amy finds working with the frustratingly professional Cabe to be the biggest challenge of all. Thrilling and fast paced, the third book in the Love Over Duty series keeps readers glued to the pages with lots of suspense and romance. Cabe and his team are ready to bring down their enemies any way possible even if that means working with a whole host of alphabet agencies in order to get the bad guys and this mission has Cabe and Amy both working to overcome their emotional issues while doing so. In regards to the mission, anticipation builds as their undercover personas get closer to the endgame and a few twists and turns adds adrenaline pumping action to the mix, especially as the good guys have multiple objectives. Cabe and Amy are strong, compelling characters that easily draw readers in and hold their attention while the sizzling chemistry heats up the pages and burns hot enough that this couple can’t fight their attraction no matter the professional and emotional obstacles that get in the way. I was completely caught up in the excitement of this mission as much as I was caught up in Cabe and Amy’s combustible romance as both had so much potential to blow up in their faces as they put their lives and their hearts at risk.

    Great suspense!

When Amy is teamed up with Cabe to bust a money laundering business as well as find evidence of missing women, they both know they have to keep things professional between them. Amy’s past has a case of sexual harassment that colored her reputation and to get involved with a superior coworker would give credence to the gossip’s claims. Cabe’s fiancée, Jess, died two years ago and he’s still struggling to move on and not succeeding very well. However, he is attracted to Amy like no other woman since her and he wants to take a chance. Unfortunately, she works a job that is open to danger, just as Jess did, and he’s not sure he could survive losing another woman again. This was a relatively slow paced book that set up the background and the current situation regarding the bad guys. The setting is primarily in a casino with lots of info on betting, counting cards, and other miscellaneous gambling tidbits. While I liked the hero and heroine well enough, I never really felt a full on chemistry explosion between these two. Part of the reason was due to Cabe’s struggle to move on from the loss of Jess. Even when he didn’t feel the guilt of being with Amy, he was checking to see if he felt it. There was just a lot of remembering his fiancée that took away from the buildup between Amy and Cabe. I’m not a fan of this trope at all so it colored my opinion of the story. The plot and the storyline was excellent with lots of villains and danger at every turn. I was anxious for Amy each time she stepped out to investigate or someone from the casino approached her. I approved of Cabe’s instinct to protect her at all cost even if they lost their target. The ending was satisfying as their case comes to a conclusion and there was a nice little epilogue that gave us a look into their future a few months/weeks later. Overall, if you don’t mind the deceased spouse/lover trope, then you will definitely enjoy this one. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

    Romantic Suspense

Deep Cover by Scarlett Cole Love Over Duty #3 Have you ever wanted to BE the female lead in the book you are reading? I kind of wanted to step into Amy Murray’s shoes…well…perhaps not entirely but what a strong, competent, intelligent woman she was! She is definitely someone to emulate! And Cabe Moss? Well, he is a hunk and a half ex-SEAL who may appear cold but is definitely NOT! The two are drawn to each other from the meet-cute but for one reason and another (have to read the book…not telling you why) the two do not get together then and with a case to work together have to wait even longer than they might have wanted to before figuring out how to be together without jeopardizing their mission. I really enjoyed hearing about Amy’s father and uncle and how they pulled together to assist her and Cabe be the best possible undercover agents – under the circumstances. The insight into poker an gambling and how it might be used to make women disappear was fascinating, real and more than a bit unsettling. This was an action-packed romantic suspense with people I admired and could relate to and that I hoped would eventually end up together. I am not sure if there will be more in this series but with three teams of Eagle Security operatives it is entirely possible this won’t be the last book in the series though the founders of the company have met their mates. Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and Barclay Publicity for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars
