  • HFN ending with more challenges still ahead…

While I enjoyed the continuation of this story from the prequel “Branded”, it’s definitely taken on a darker theme. Under the influence of dark magic, Selma unwillingly submits to her training in becoming a Breeder. Despite the reassurances that she is priceless to the demons, her treatment at their hands is contradictory and often borders on brutal and violent. I liked Kain’s conflicted character and how Selma was able to draw out his humanity. I enjoyed how Selma gained confidence and was able to assert her personality, and use her wits to occasionally outsmart the demons. This quick-paced, entertaining story is well written and full of demon magic, action, adventure, humour and some surprises. There are many sexual encounters with dubious consent and several where there’s no consent at all. Some readers may find this disturbing, offensive and unacceptable despite the paranormal, fantasy genre. I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Demon on a leash

Continuing on from the prequel, Selma is on the run from her procurer when she comes a cross a demon lord named Kain. The initial meet up is a slow shimmer responds until it's completely ablaze immediately and I love it! Selma is one of my favorite heroines to date, there is something about her that seems genuine in her character, she is a complete disaster at time but at other times she is level headed it just depends on the situation. As for Kain, he is one of my favorite demons to date solely on the fact that the author, Nora Ash, knows how to humanize them enough in order to let people sympathize with them. He is still very much a demon lord even though he can fight like nobody business. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Rollercoaster

With her prequel book you wouldn't have thought about that ending. I laughed, I cried and I cried some more while cursing the antagonists. You have got to read this book where it will take you on a journey. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
