  • Nice story (3.5 stars)

Desire After Dark is the 15th book in Gansett Island series but the second book that I read from this series. It was a stand-alone but reading the other book from the previous book would have helped in some part. I got confused sometimes especially if they mention the other character names and they are a large community. Slim Jackson is a pilot of Gansett and he met Erin in the party that the island held last time in the previous book. He is a great guy with good sense of humor and incredibly caring and compassionate with Erin. His sensitivity with Erin's mood is very touching and he seems to be perfect for her. There are lots of his good quality which I don't want to list (it will be a spoiler). Erin Barton has a very sad past and the pain from losing her twin brother is too much for her to bear. She grieved a lot and barely lived. The author explained the intensity of her pain well and I can feel her pain too. She deserved some happiness and when she met Slim, she started to regain her old cheerfulness and love of life. I was expecting the story to be completely about Erin and Slim without the others’ story included. As the story goes, the readers are expected to be ready about the change in point of view. So like in the early chapters, it would be Erin and Slim’s story but in the next chapter it might be the other characters. I was a little bit thrown off, but I get the story and I like where it was going. When I started this book, I was lost since I do not know how Erin met Slim and it seems it was written in the previous book in this series. I want to know the detail about it but there are only some bits about in the next chapters. The book is a bit boring to my taste but there are some values that I can pick up from there which make this book worthwhile. I love all of the life lesson and the tight-knit family. Overall, I enjoy reading it. Nice read! Rating: 3.5 stars

  • Amazing!

When I read Marie's books,I feel like I'm a part of it. I love the McCarthy family and feel they would be awesome friends. I hate it ever time a story ends. I hope Marie continues to write about this great family and their friends.

    Thanks for your feedback!
