  • I don't know how this series just gets better

Does anyone else shout “just kiss him already” when reading Ethan and Jack’s continuing adventures? I can’t imagine I’m the only one. Miss Hayward is excellent at the art of the tease- making me crazy with want for a specific moment or reveal, without ever feeling like I’m being played. Instead, every moment feels natural for these men, steadily ramping up the tension and chemistry each time they’re together. Though Devil in the Details had plenty of action to lead and cap off the novella, this installment seemed to really focus on furthering the relationship- answering questions both men had regarding what they have and what they want in the future. And I loved every moment. The writing is so smooth, there’s insight and little details in the quiet moments seamlessly woven alongside action scenes that deliver without letting up on the pace. And the style always reflects the moment, either conveying the urgency of the situation or relaxing to allow the reader to fully witness the characters shifting from trained operatives to tender lovers. I really enjoy seeing both men lower their defenses as they come together and evolve over the course of the series. For me, this couple and series simply gets better and better, and I’m absolutely stoked to find out what’s in store for the men next. *eARC received from author.
