  • Intrigue and Romance

The moment Lisandro de Aguirre, Duke of Tolosa, saw her, he was smitten. The problem? She is Maria de Elizondo Garza, daughter of the Duke of Villabona. The two families have been feuding for a century, so she is off limits. Then she is kidnapped and her brother comes to Lisandro to help find and rescue her. And rescue her he does. As they work their way back to Spain, they develop a plan to catch those responsible. Oh, and they fall in love. The story is set during a time of political uncertainty in Spain. People must take care. Opinions heard by the wrong people can be dangerous. This is a romance and an adventure. Lisandro and Maria are wonderful together. Both are smart and confident. Their story holds your attention start to finish. A good story with a great ending where we find out what the feud was about and how it was ended. I recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

  • Wonderful

A captivating, exciting tale that weaves a spell from the first page when he sees her at a ball. Lisandro, Duke of Tolosa, noticed a woman wearing a different style of gown, not that of the usual. When she turned around "Lisandro was certain that his heart had stopped. For a moment or two, he simply stared..... Perfection. A pair of warm coffee-colored eyes stared back. He smiled at her. The slow deliberate blink she gave in return was all the encouragement he needed." Unfortunately, the beautiful woman was Maria, the daughter of his family's greatest enemy so there seemed no hope. But fate steps in, as it often does, and Lisandro is asked to help find the missing Maria who has been kidnaped. Oh yes, then the journey begins! Lisandro is such a sweetheart and is very attracted to Maria. It just takes her a bit to trust him. But could these sworn enemies ever come together? Don't miss this wonderful story told by the fabulous Sasha Cottman. I cannot wait for the next one!

  • A charming tale

Will the feud between their family doom their relationship... What a lovely and fast paced read this tale is. And while the first third of the story was their separated tale, once they are reunited, it is one sweet moment after another. Maria is so demure miss, while she is powerless against her kidnapper and gaoler, with her limited mean, she fights them in her own way. And once freed, she get time to know Lisandro, learn to trust him but also appreciate he is a man willing to listen to a woman, even one with a temper. Lisandro has immediately been smitten with Maria, if only she wasn’t the daughter of a sworn enemy. And now he is crossing countries to rescue her. But it is not just out of kindness, he has been entranced, she is his future duchess, if she can see past their family’s feud. He is more than a land lord, he had hope and optimism for his country, why he sided with a bunch of England peculiar fellows. He is not a man to be tricked, he takes measures and ensures everything goes to plan. Their romance is charming with few doubts about the outcome, it serves to demonstrate how complementary they are one another while being two different entities. She demands a say in the decisions concerning herself and their life together. In all, this read is a charming road trip offering the heroine and hero time to set aside their own wariness to open their heart to a future together. 4 stars I was granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

  • Dynamic, Dangerous and Deadly

I loved the fact that this was mostly based in Spain. Part in England but for the most part in Spain. Political underdealings kidnap a noblewoman daughter of a Duke. Maria's brother Diego had no other recourse but to go to his family's sworn enemy Duke Lisandro. Diego and his father had exhausted all avenues and could not find her. It was whispered that during the war between France and Spain Lisandro had secret missions that gave him untold contacts in Spain and England. They put aside their feud for the sake and return of Maria. Maria and Lisandro had connected at a ball but they did not know each other’s name. When it became clear Maria could not help but feel conflicted between hating him and recognizing a kind gentleman who did not take advantage of her. Lisandro knew at that moment she was meant to be his. So, he was keen to go on this mission for Diego. Fraught with danger, death, cruel treatment Maria prayed and hoped her prayers would be answered. When Lisandro and his English friends found her and rescued her, she thought Lisandro was behind it all. But he proved that was not the case. Each day found them getting to know each other better and getting closer. But the priority was that there was someone in Maria's household that was a traitor and Lisandro had a plan to flush him out. But how to protect Maria from England to Spain was a huge problem. This is such an exciting story steeped in action, adventure, religion, one-hundred-year feud and an enemy to lover’s story. I got such a kick finally finding out what the feud was all about and how the two Dukes resolved it. Wonderful. I especially enjoyed the epilogue that put them a few years in the future. A lovely finish to a dynamic story. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Fabulous

This is a lovely story, beautifully written, fast-paced and full of action, danger and adventure and best of all a great love story! I just love the characters both main and secondary. The secondary characters, the London Lords added so much to this story I can’t wait to read their stories. The author does a wonderful job creating characters that you can relate to. I could have easily fallen in love with Lisandro, Duke of Tolosa. He was noble, good and kind and so romantic. When he laid eyes on Maria de Elizondo Garza, daughter of the Duke of Villabona at a ball and it was clear from that moment on he knew he must have her. The fact that she was the daughter of a duke of a noble family feuding with his for 100 years posed its own set of problems. Maria was confident and brave and then she tried to resist he was simply irresistible. The plotting was wonderfully done, filled with suspense. Emotions run high amidst the twist and turns. The imagery and the authors descriptive language was perfect. She makes it so easy to imagine yourself a part of the story. I couldn’t put this book down until the very last page. I especially loved the epilogue. Thank you so much Miss Cottman for such a beautifully written story of romance and love!
