  • Did Jesus Exist

The points for Jesus existence are well argued and are convincing. Multiple, independent sources and other arguments make a strong case for author's initial thesis that Jesus actually was a historical person. The part that is not addressed sufficiently is why this particular person and movement he started, grew so quickly to become Roman's Empire official religion and one of the world main religions. Maybe it was beyond author's interest, the book is quite focused on the proof of Jesus existence and repelling contrary views. Author is using Paul's writings to reinforce his case. I would like to know for example what happened to Paul that from Christian's tormentor he became their greatest spokesman and defender. There was the event on the road to Damascus that shocked him to the core. Weather or not the author gives any credence to this event there is no comment on that at all. The alternative interpretations are also missing. It is clear that there is no will to be bogged down here the in thorny issues of miraculous apparitions and I understand that. But to censor it altogether is not addressing the point that there was something different about this preacher over numerous others that roamed the holy land in the first century. The author has addressed virgin birth issue and I can buy his arguments on the subject. Hi didn't addressed the resurrection as I think it deserves. I think historical perspective to this issue would make the book much more complete.
