    A brilliant sequel

Fantastic, epic and a very fitting end to the tale. I enjoyed this as much if not more than The Shining. I was enthralled right from the start and couldn't put it down. Lucky for me I've been at home sick which gave me the time to keep reading!

Like pulling on an old, loved coat

By my calculation I've been Mr Kings "Constant Reader" for around 20 years. I started reading Carrie in Secondary school and from that day until today, King's story-telling has very rarely failed to take a tight, remorseless grip on my imagination. If you pick up any of his books, with two or three exceptions (not a criticism: in a three decade long, highly productive career, it is astonishing that there are so few turkeys!) you are swept along in his clear, realistic prose that sends the images direct from his mind to ours. For most King fans I suspect, finding out how Dan Torrance has been living his life since the Overlook will be exciting however I remain a little diappointed. After taking us back to the site of the Overlook and it's ghosts, to my mind, it is underutilised. But it is not my job to second guess the Master. While far from his best book Doctor Sleep remains an excellent read.

    Excellent

Wasn't sure at first, The Shining is a hard act to follow and the time seemed much father at first. But by the end I was both excited to be following the outcome of the story and dreading the last page and knowing that I had finished reading this absorbingly addictive book. An excellent follow on and a great read in it's own right

    WOW. ....

Having just finished reading "The Shining" I went into this one with high expectations and boy was I surprised. The story is amazing and is an excellent continuation of the epic first book. I take my hat off to Stephen King for writing yet another shining example of horror fiction.
