I really enjoyed this novel. But disappointed that I can only get the rest on amazon

Dragonfly, book one of the Dragonfly

Very god read. A little slow, but picked quickly. A little different twist on the combination of magic and tech.

    Enjoyable enough

I was so enthralled with The Dragon Slayer's Sword that I got the only other novel this author has with Kobo. This was ok but wasn't nearly as good. Kobo only carries the first in each series anyway which seems odd.

Disappointing execution of a good idea

There's a really good story idea underneath this, but I had a hard time getting into it, because it was written in such a way as to make it uninteresting. And that's a shame, because I was looking forward to reading a fantasy that was focused on First Nations people and culture. The characterization of the main character made her seem very stupid and whiny and it was very hard to pin down her age because the way she acted, and thought, didn't fit with her constant insistence that she was a woman. The story was also very slow to have anything interesting happen and then when it did I couldn't focus on it because the character was too busy whining. And then some of the things happened way too fast to be believable. For example, you can't have an entire relationship arc in 2 seconds and expect me to buy the connection between these people. The story idea had a lot of potential, but unfortunately I don't think it lived up to it.
