  • Heartbreak, friendship, true love & a touch of fae

Dreamer's Pool is the first novel I have read by Juliet Marillier. Her characters and worldbuilding is so vivid that I literally could not put this book down, until I had finished it somewhere around 2am this morning. Dreamer's Pool as you can possibly guess is the story of Blackthorn and Grim. In the beginning we find them locked in the Chieftain Mathuin's prisons, strangers to each other. The day before she can tell her story before the council, she is given a warning and a deal. She would never have the chance to speak before the town council, as Mathuin does not want her story told, she will be murdered in her cell. All hope is lost until a mysterious noble fey, Conmael, offers her a deal. Turn away from her vengeance, leave Mathuin's land and travel to the far north to Winterfalls. Use her skills as a wise woman and healer only for good and never turn away any request for aid. Do this for seven years and he will help her escape. Blackthorn and Grim travel together filled with their own pain and dark pasts, to the lands of Prince Oran and the town of Winterfalls. Not is all as it seems here What lies in the heart of the Dreamer's Forest?
