  • Maybe trying to put too much in?

I do love this series, and I cannot BELIEVE where Maas left us with this one! next year is much to far for the next book in the series. However, having just read her CoTaR series I have to say that this book lacked that which A Court of Mist and Fury pulled off so well. Maas left too many blanks in the narrative, leaving a lot of the story to be 'shocking twists' and 'surprises', which instead I just found irritating- maybe she was trying to fit too much in and tie a lot of events off, without going through them? There were also a few scenes in this book which didn't fit so well in to this series' narrative, instead better suited for her other series of books- maybe a bit of crossed wires in her writing? Despite this, I still enjoyed this book and it is a definite read if you've read the rest of the series

  • Never a disappointment

This genre so often hits out awesome and then fizzes out two thirds through and the devastation can be heartbreaking. But this series has just kept providing the goods. Not just keeping up with a great level of skill but continuing to get better. Just when you think ball avenues of awesome have been explored and you wonder where the author can possibly take the story now, you are left sitting there staring blankly at the page with your mouth open reveling in the literal excitement a whole new route opening up has filled you with. A fantastic read, true art for the eyes. Thank you so much for sharing this world with us.

  • Ms Mass Does It Again & Again & Again & Again & Ag

Magic Mayhem Madness & Murder. Beasts, Monsters, Creatures & Critters Poison Fangs, Claws, Tail Spikes & Talons. Wind, Fire, Ice & Ash all Come Together To Clash! One of my favourite things about is entire series is the way the new generation of strong females characters (& a few males) are coming together to make the world a better place to change what their Mothers & Father's have so rightly destroyed. They are slowly changing their minds, the way the think, what's important to them & what the people (their subjects need). I love the way they find their love interest or mate & how its not always Love at first sight & the relationships develop over time, like most real life relationships. There's something about the way it's done over series of books that brings these loner outcasts all together as one great big happy family! I find this really appealing and interesting. All the women have such a strength, have been thru hell & back with the mental & physical scars to prove it, they are far from perfect, make mistakes have flaws and seem real. I love their kindness, values and how they have a high self morale system of beliefs. But how they do is beyond me, when their guardians or parental figures are such misguided monsters mostly. Another outstanding novel by Ms Maas. The characters have matured & grown beyond all expectations. The world is unlike any other I've read before. Even though we've all read similar books set in ancient kingdoms of human, fae, monster & assassins. The storyline is truly a unique and unforgettable story that O can not stop thinking about even days & weeks after finishing a book! I'm struggling to decide if this, The Throne of Glass Series has just become my New All-Time Favourite Series by a female Author or if that title is still held for me by Laurell K. Hamilton's awesome fae series The Meredith Gentry Adventure Series. I guess I should reserve my judgement of that till the series is complete. But both are amazing regardless. The action once again is top notch with a fast pace of non stop sequence that gets the heart pumping & this time not only did I read I also listened too the Audiobooks version with its unbelievable 20 CD's that takes an incredible 25 + hours to listen too. And the narration is top notch quality too. The only problem 4 me is the speed at which its read. Its slightly too slow for my tastes. Too much time & space at the end of a sentence or end of chapter. There are not many Audiobooks I like the sound of. Most just sound terrible too me. I'm not real keen on the accents of those I've previously listened too & usually turn them off after a few minutes not being able to listen any longer. But Ms Maas sure has that 'Midas Touch', Everything she touches turns to Gold including her choice of Narrator. I can not wait to read the next book, this is th first time the next novel is not waiting to be opened on my library app. I rate Empire of Storms 5⭐ Out Of 5⭐. There has not been 1 mediocre book in this incredible series yet & hope the trend continues as I'm sure it will! I borrowed both the paperback, ebook & audiobook versions of this incredible book from my local Len Beadell Library! • Unsaitable

Couldn't help it. I fell in love with the series all over again. It completely overwrite my aspirations of what a novel should be - was everything I dreamt I could ever hope to create and beyond. Words so succinct and simulating it's poetry deciphered. Story better than heart wrenching it heart wrecking. Characters so novel, even the coldest of blizzards would melt down inside out. The thill, the hope and adrenaline - a drug I can't put down. You'd sacrifice sleep and risk eye bags just to read it over and over again, not even minding the desensitization, if only to relive the memory of it again and again. Empire of Storms is the one book that hand managed to rekindle and light aflame the 4 years over dying ember from within. You will regret having not read it sooner, the moment it was released.
