  • A great start to a new series

I am truly enjoying the different series that Ms. Barton comes up with. The surgeon and the soldier, what a wonderful combination. Dylan Hutchinson, Hutch to her men was a soldier through and through. That was the life she liked, ordered, disciplined, regimented. This was the life she knew, what was she to do now that the her injuries were going to end her career. Even loved being a surgeon, he loved helping at the ranch with his family but medicine called to him. He was prepared to dislike Dylan until he caught her scent and his tiger declared her theirs. Dylan knows what a mate is but thinks Evan is dense, why will he not accept she doesn't want or need to be his mate. Ms. Barton creates wonderful stories filled with touchy subjects. She handles them with care and describes the struggles that family members go through touching our hearts. Her stories sometimes run with similar storylines but each is unique, new and not a copy of previous tales. Her characters are likeable, make you laugh and cry at times , sometimes you even want to smack them. Her storylines move fast, keep your attention and leave you wanting more. I always enjoy my reading experience when I pick up one of her books and wait impatiently for the next one to come out. I volunteered to read this story for my honest opinion

  • Evan & Dylan

Dylan and Evan's mating is rocky even before they discovered they were mates. Dylan has lived and breathed the military life her entire adult career. When she's injured and forced to sit on the sidelines she doesn't know what to do with herself. She has plans for when she got out, but how is she suppose to care for her grandfather (who suffers from Alzheimer's) when she can't even walk without a cane?!? Evan has had a very negative attitude towards everything as of late. The woman he was going to check out was no different. He figured he'd help out a family and assumed this woman was only exaggerating her injuries. What he discovers is his mate, and she's none too happy to be where she is, and determined to keep him away from her. Dylan and Evan's mating may not be like everyone is use to. Dylan is very much an alpha female who will do whatever it takes to protect those she loves. Even if it means she has to kill, she doesn't bat an eye. Evan is the protector and doesn't mind letting Dylan do what needs to be done to protect everyone.

  • Evan

'Evan' is book one of Kathi S. Barton's "The Whitfield Rancher" series. I've read quite a few of Ms. Barton's books and have come to recognize her style. This time we get to meet Evan Whitfield, a surgeon, and Dylan Hutchinson, a sergeant in the US Army. There were a few instances within the storyline that didn't hold true to something that previously happened but all in all, I felt this was a good read. For the most part, I felt like this one, contrary to her previous works, seemed to be laying the groundwork of what is to come within the series. That being said, I'm anxious to read 'David' to see where she takes me next.

    Thanks for your feedback!
