  • A Family Rallies When the Going Gets Dangerous

've loved the Mantoni family since I read the first book in the series, Delayed Death, so I was thrilled when I learned that another Temptation in Florence mystery was available. Expected Death did not disappoint. It's as full of fun as the preceding adventures, plus it's a good mystery, a classic cozy whodunnit. I was happy to know that things are moving along nicely in the romance department for Carlina and Stefano and glad to learn that another love story was developing in the family - a real May-December romance. Uncle Teo has fallen in love with a younger woman, but there's a problem: she's a sworn enemy of another Mantoni family member. Everyone except Uncle Teo knows this has to end badly. Boeker does a great job creating a real spider of a character in the tiny woman who's captured an old man's heart. As much as we want him to find happiness, we shudder whenever she appears - and nobody cries when she ends up dead. That's as much plot as I'm going to give away, but I will say that the book presents an interesting puzzle for mystery lovers to solve. In addition, it entertains with Boeker's usual astute and mischievous observations of human nature.

  • Italophile favorite, romance, mystery, laughs

The cozy mystery series featuring Carlina, her shop in Florence Italy, and policeman Stefano Garini, and the vast Mantoni clan continues with laughs, romance and mysteries. I won't say much because I don't want to give anything away!

  • Expected Death

I’ve bought the entire series and look for more. The stories are a nice relaxing read. The characters become friends. I will be posting the same review on each book. I am not a robot.

  • Amusing mystery

This series is a bit OTT but I am always interested to read Italian stories written by English/American authors: Leon, Dibden, Nabb, et al. This writer has a light touch in revealing the many characteristics so charming in Italian life.

    Thanks for your feedback!
