  • I loved this book!

This is the second book in the Summer Sisters series but it can also be read as a standalone. While I enjoyed reading the first book in this series, Love and Rumors, this one captivated me from the very beginning and I hated to put it down when life demanded that I do so. Maya Summer has a business degree and is ready to set the business world on fire. She has rented the sisters’ cottage to her hero, in the business world, Connor MacKenzie, for 2 weeks and will act as his personal assistant during his stay. What she doesn’t know is that Connor is on mandatory R&R; he is so burnt out that he is in danger of having some serious health problems. The sparks fly often between the two of them; and not always in a romantic or sexual way. Maya proves to be a challenge to Connor in more ways than one. Along the way there are a few twists and turns in their story which added greatly to my enjoyment. While this is can be read as a standalone I am looking forward to reading the stories about the remaining two Summer sisters

  • Leave the rat race to the rats

Why it’s important to leave the rat race to the rats. Apparently, Maya and I have a lot in common. From snap decisions often based on gut instincts to a deep and abiding confusion over why connecting with people is so necessary, I loved Maya every step of the way. Connor left me baffled a lot of the time. I couldn’t grasp how he could be so clueless as to ignore all the warning signs his body was sending. And he frustrated the daylights out of me when he refused to listen to Maya’s concerns about his latest deal. I adored where this book got to in the end, but some of the steps it took getting there left me gnashing my teeth. I also enjoyed getting the chance to see the other Summer sisters from Maya’s perspective after having seen Hailey’s in the previous book. I received a complimentary copy of this audio from the author.
