    SENSATIONAL!

Julie Mulhern’s Field’s Guide to Abduction (A Poppy Field’s Mystery) is absolutely sensational! What a way to kick off a new series! Mulhern has created a dynamic new series that is full of excitement from start to finish. Her list of characters include those that are quirky, some that are very endearing, many that are very treacherous and then there’s the very unforgettable heroine Poppy Fields. Poppy has led an interesting life. She’s had it all but she’s missed the opportunity to have the things that are the most important needs of everyone. That makes her a perfect unwitting target for both good and evil. Poppy just wants a free trip to a friend’s resort in Mexico. What can possibly go wrong? Ask her again at the end of her trip! Who knows - she may end up being the best actress in her family, a well compensated author or being a government agent. I was provided an ARC of this book by the author. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence. I have already preordered my own personal copy to add to my collection.

    Loved This!

Poppy Fields is tired of living under her famous Hollywood mother’s shadow. Unfortunately, everywhere she goes people tell her how much she looks like her mother. Even in Mexico, it’s a problem. However, Poppy has much bigger problems to deal with in Mexico. Drug lords, cartels, and nasty people with guns are after her and she has no idea why. Poppy quickly learns she can’t trust anyone, so she has to depend on her own skills to get her out of this mess. Of course she has no skills in getting away from the bad guys, but she must learn fast or she’ll never get back home. Suddenly Hollywood is looking pretty good. This one has been on my e-reader for awhile and I finally decided to give it a try. I love this author’s other cozy mystery series and wanted to see what this one is like. What a lovely surprise! I absolutely adored it and Poppy Fields. There’s never a dull moment in this book. The action keeps going. I was at the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The beginning drew me right in and I just could not stop reading. I wasn’t sure if I’d like Poppy, but I loved her immediately. She’s fun, vulnerable and strong all at the same time. She’s forced into situations that are not of her own making. Sometimes I shake my head at the actions of some heroines, but not with Poppy. She made the best decisions under difficult circumstances. Risky ones, but the best she could do. The dialogue is snappy, witty, and filled with humor. I went from laughing to gasping to laughing again. Oh and there’s a killer Chihuahua involved. So much fun! Sometimes a book just hits all the right notes and this one did it for me. I got this as a freebie (I think it might still be free), but I already added the next two books to my shopping list. I can’t wait for more Poppy Fields adventures.

    The poppy fields

I really liked this book. It is so well written in a very amusing style and yet it makes you sit on the edge of your chair fearing for the life of the main character. You should read it!

    cozy fun adventure

My favorite line "James was so deeply in the closet, he had one foot in Narnia." Poppy Fields is a 23 yr old college graduate who looks exactly like her famous actress mother Chariss Carlton. To distract herself from mourning the sudden death of her boyfriend, Jake, Poppy accepts a week at a Mexican resort opening as one of the 'stars'. Poppy finds herself in a spiral of dangerous situations requiring the self defense skills her father taught her as a young girl. Lots of action and twists make this an interesting book you don't want to put down. Poppy's next adventure in "making a difference" should be equally exciting knowing the author's skill in her other series. Well done Julie Mulhern!
