  • A Warm, Uplifting Read!

My first encounter with Kate Field's writing, and I really hope it's not my last! Miranda Brown, known as Mim, hasn't always had an easy life but never fails to look on the bright side and be grateful for the little she has. Living in her car, she unexpectedly meets Bea and Bill Howard, far from home and needing to get back for their niece's wedding the following day. Mim doesn't hesitate to offer to take them home but she has no idea the impact her kind gesture is going to have on her life. This is such a lovely read which will warm the cockles of even the most hard-hearted reader. A story of family, generosity of spirit and a wonderful reminder that there are still unselfish people in this world. The characters are realistically drawn, each with their own flaws and beautifully developed. There is a thread of kindness running throughout this novel - and I'm a great believer in spreading a little kindness. It's not a saccharine read, but rather a warm, uplifting one which definitely put a smile on my face. Really enjoyable, and one I'm happy to recommend and give 4.5*.

  • Really lovely and moving🤗

🌅A heroine who's seen hard times gets a lovely new lease on life (and love)!🌈 With a picture-perfect coastal setting, a tight-knit community and a stoic heroine that could make you cry, this is a beautiful story and totally worth the read!👍👍 I loved Mim, the working class Lancashire lass with a desperate need to finally find a place she can call home after an unsettled existence that lands her homeless and sleeping in her car. She's been through so many knocks and doubts that she deserves better but she keeps moving on and always in a positive fashion. Lacking family or friends, her act of kindness to two strangers on a cold December night leads to big surprises and her enthusiastic adoption as an honorary member of a family with wealth and resources. Friendship and love follow. It's such an uplifting story, but kept me occasionally on the verge of tears as Mim refuses to take advantage of her new friends and insists on her independence no matter how cold, lonely, exhausting and uncertain that may be. This is an inspirational gem, easy to read and full of situations and moments that made me think; could I be as generous as Mim in similar circumstances? I mean, Mim even offers to sacrifice her comfortable life in Devon and a budding relationship for another's desire to keep her close. All eventually ends well but I was so invested in her story and hoping that her ultimate decision would be the one that would best serve her needs for home, family and friends. Thanks to Harper Collins UK/ One More Chapter and NetGalley for providing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

  • Heartwarming read.

Finding Home certainly will tug at your heart as Min, raised in foster care, finds her forever place. British author, Kate Fields has created characters that resonate and inspire as Min’s simple act of kindness towards two strangers brings love, purpose, friendships and ultimately home and security. It is a lovely read. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.

  • Full of character

This is a very heartwarming read with a fantastic main character in Mim (Miranda) who is down on her luck having recently lost her job and the accommodation that came with it resulting in her living in her car whilst she figures out her next move. When she encounters Bill and Bea who have broken down in their car she doesn’t hesitate to help them out resulting in an opportunity to relocate near them and their family. I loved how Mim would help anyone out and try to find the best in a situation, she doesn’t expect anything to be handed to her and is more than willing to work hard and she never uses her past as an excuse for sympathy. The other characters are well written with good depth and overall this is a great character lead read.

  • Heartwarming story

Mim hasn’t been lucky in her life, but things may be looking up when she offers a couple a ride home, when she finds them broken down. Mim has been living in her car, so she has the time to help. Bea and Bill invite her to stay in one of their caravans. Grab your copy and get to know Bea and Bill’s children and how Mim is able to help them, along with them helping her. If you enjoy family themed books, you will not be disappointed with this fun read. I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.
