  • Inspires you to find the why of lifestyle choices

Change is possible. And it is never too late. Rich Roll shares in Finding Ultra his remarkable transformation from sedentary alcoholic to becoming an ultra-endurance athlete. His story begins on the night before his 40th birthday, an identifiable moment that would change the trajectory of his life forever. In that moment of clarity he realises that he may well die too-young. Out of breath going up the stairs, and unhealthy despite turning sober. Finding Ultra is a very personal story. Rich opens up about his insecurities whilst at Landon School. Insecurities that led him to become an alcoholic in the first place. And about his fire for swimming. A fire and passion that he lost due to his alcoholism. But found again with his relentless drive and curiosity to learn. He learned about nourishment. Meditation for the mind. And a vegan diet for the body. What may not work for everyone, is indeed a good reminder to think critically. Think critically about the “why“ behind the way we live. Rich Roll writes Finding Ultra from the heart. It is a very captivating read and connects the reader through his vulnerabilities. His curiosity is contagious, particularly for health and fitness enthusiasts. He encourages us to turn knowledge into action. And shares some of his scientific findings about a healthy lifestyle at the end of the book. Whilst Rich Roll promotes a vegan diet, Finding Ultra is also a good read for non-vegans. You will walk away from this book feeling inspired to take ownership of your own health - whatever health means to you.
