  • I discovered this book through Kevin Kelly's TED Talk. It has changed my life, and amazingly continues to do so with each reading. It formalizes things I've been suspecting, but never been able to put into words. The notion of finite games (those played to win, and thus ending each game) and infinite ones (played to keep playing) are powerful and everlasting. I look forward to reading this book again and again.

  • Stretching a metaphor too far

The book describes "games" that supposedly encompass every aspect of human experience. The entire thing is a sequence of unsubstantiated statements, many of which have counterexamples that the author doesn't acknowledge. No application to real life. I almost always finish a book once I've started, but on this one I gave up after getting halfway through the first chapter and then skimming the first page of the other chapters.

    Thanks for your feedback!
