  • K'stan really is the pits

This novel takes a totally different direction from the first six Troubleshooter novels. There's no longer a focus on SEAL Team 16 but rather on the new Troubleshooters group. Former Lt Paoletti takes a back seat in this novel as we begin to see one of his new covert civilian teams go into action in Kazbekistan. Here, the villains are truly evil and the only people worth trusting do a lot of their planning in a barn. People who once could be trusted have gone over to the dark side for money and their lives. But the women are incredibly brave - don't ever underestimate Tess and Sophia. While I'm sure future Troubleshooter books will go back to SEAL Team 16 as well as the FBI Counterterrorism team, this incredibly suspenseful novel is an excellent introduction to the civilian teams. Well worth investing your time in this book.
