    Good, but ...

Great storytelling and beautifully crafted sentences sprinkled throughout the book. It does, however, feel like a filler of a story line, not much about Lesley or The Faceless Man in here ... eagerly awaiting the next one and hoping it continues that plot line.

As excellent as the previous 4 books

Ben understands fantasy and has successfully set it in the real, world. Such good enjoyable characters and stories.

Ben, would you mind pulling your finger out?

Right, I've read them all, all five. Twice. It is true that you get more out on the second reading, or maybe that's just me. Taking the Starling out of the City really works, it makes for an excellent and advancing plot. Ingredients we already had all richened, new ones came along, and all in an excellent storyline. What I liked about Foxglove Summer is that the magic ingredient didn't have to present itself from the start this time. We knew it would come, but it could emerge more gradually and with more impact in a plot that had already developed without it. When it did arrive the magic ingredient had as much colour and force as in books 1-4, but on new territory. Toby would have loved it out there. I'm tempted to open Rivers of London and go in for round three but really, I'd much rather move on to no. 6, 7... so please, Ben, if you don't mind...

    Excellent

Imaginative, entertaining, well written. I've enjoyed the series. Terry Pratchett lovers are likely to enjoy
