  • Hard Pass

Formulaic and lacking any depth. The characters' "master" sends them on missions to collect information to help him become more wealthy. We get a few pages of them on the mission, everything works out and then on to the next one. Absolutely no color or depth to the storytelling. Furthermore, the humans -- who have been slaves their entire lives and have zero education -- learn how to run/fix/install complicated electronics, fly space shuttles, etc. in a matter of days. Literally written as days, not weeks, months or years. You know, just like all the real world PhDs at NASA. Even an auto mechanic can't learn the job in a couple of days. Best I can say is the book may appeal to younger readers.

  • Fairly unique plot

It’s like Titan A.E. on steroids, with the addition of humans as slaves after being attacked and defeated.

  • Intriguing & disturbing

Intriguing story line... humanity has been inslaved by aliens for centeries & kept docile by drugs. Suddenly, some are waking up. An alien master gathers a grew of aware humans & trains them to help him move up the political ladder, promising an end to slavery. Half way through, the writer adds in gladiator type games where thousands of humans die in hundreds of horrible ways. I enjoyed the book until then. No sex, no swearing, just really sick ways for humans to die. Won't be reading any more. I normally enjoy this writer.
