Whew! Tyree and Eva's story was much more emotional than I was expecting. Now since this is a running series I would normally recap the beginning so you know what this series is all about but I actually think this one could easily be read as a standalone. So saying that, I'll just do a short recap. Tyree is the owner of the bar called The Fix on Sixth. His bar is hosting a man of the month calendar event to help bring in new business to his and his partners establishment. Each book in the series represents the man of that month and this one is Tyree's. Tyree is a widower with a 16 year old son. Long before he married his wife, he had a first love. He believes she ghosted on him while he was on active duty. Eva has always loved Tyree and when she thought he was gone to her, she gave into her fathers pressuring to marry the man he wanted her too to give her daughter a father. Elana, Tyree and Eva's daughter is now 24 years old and she has just learned her father is alive. There is no stopping her from finding him and possibly reuniting him with her mom. I love Tyree and Eva's story. I love the way they reconnected and how flawlessly both families blended. The only thing standing in there way is Tyree's love of his deceased wife and his inability to know how to move on. This had such a great message and I truly enjoyed their beautiful story.

  • Good book

3.5 stars Get It On is the 5th book in the Man of the Month series from J. Kenner. I've enjoyed each of the books and look forward to each new installment. That held true for Get It On as well, as I was very interested in Tyree's story. Overall, I did enjoy the book. Tyree and Eva have a past. Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes so I was very excited to see how J. Kenner would put her spin on that. The circumstances in this book were unique to me as a reader and I enjoyed working through them with Eva and Tyree. These two have a chemistry for sure, it's just a matter of them figuring out how to handle that. Tyree's struggle with that made my heart hurt but it worked. As I haven't been in his shoes, I can't understand how hard it must be for him but J. Kenner does a good job showing his struggle. Sometimes, I think it might have been a bit much, but again, that's just my opinion. The writing was strong as always. The pacing was a bit off for me in spots-some areas were rushed and others took a bit too long for me. But overall enjoyed this installment in the Man of the Month series. I look forward to getting glimpses of Tyree and Eva in later books. I look forward to the next book in this series and would recommend this title.

  • It’s Tyree's time to shine.

I really enjoyed getting to know more about Tyree and his story was certainly one for the books. As the original owner of The Fix on Sixth, I knew he was a great guy. He’s well loved by his friends. I mean, look what they did for him, joining forces and bank accounts to save the bar. They are getting it on and getting there. Tyree’s past comes back to haunt him when the daughter of an old love Eva Winston shows up in the bar with news he wasn’t expecting. Finding out he had a long lost daughter comes as a shock and it’s not a pretty sight when he confronts Eva. He believes she betrayed him and cost him time with his first born. Tyree is a good man, a great friend and father, but he has a hard time with this news. But, when the truth comes out, can he fix his mistakes or will Eva truly leave him this time? Find out in the newest installment of the ‘Man of the Month’ series today.

  • Best One So Far

OK, this book is now my favorite of the series (and no I haven't said that about every book, though Cameron is still my favorite book boyfriend of the series). I knew from the setup in the fourth book, that this book was going to be great. I couldn't put this book down. Tyree has loved two women and he thought he lost them both, or has he. Get ready for little bit of a rollercoaster ride. This one so far is the most emotional of the series. There is a balance of the anger and betrayal, and sympathy and love that these characters experience based on the curve ball(s) life has thrown at them. Tyree and Eva are both solid characters with obvious chemistry and a little bit older from what we've seen so far, so that is a refreshing take, especially since so many romance novels tend to revolve around younger characters. I will say the reason Tyree doesn't know about his daughter is a little cliché, but not something that is dwelled upon for longer than it needed to be. You'll fly through this book just like the others and when the series ends, I think there may be some seriously major book hangover happening. Based on the epilogue book 6 might be the steamiest of them all.

  • Review: Man of the Month 5: Get It On

Get It On by J. Kenner is the fifth book in her new 12 book Man of the Month series. Told in dual POV this is where the owner of The Fix himself, Tyree, comes face to face with a past love and learns to open his heart again, not just with Eva but with their grown daughter that he only just found out existed. Tyree is blindsided by the knowledge that he has a daughter with Eva - the woman who broke his heart before he met his wife. With Teiko gone the past few years he has never really moved past losing her and he and his son, Elijah, have grown closer and gone through so much together since her death. Learning about his daughter, Elena, was a shock, but a pleasant surprise. Seeing Eva after all these years, however, left him speechless. Eva thought she had lost Tyree all those years ago and now that she knows the truth about the situation she is hesitant to make a move. Good thing for her and Tyree that their daughter, Elena, doesn't mind putting wither of them in the hot seat at all. Showing up in Austin felt like a mistake until it didn't and now she is willing to give his thing with them a chance. But is Tyree ready? Well-written and well-paced, this was another great read and I'm excited with how each of the upcoming characters are gently weaved into the plots in earlier stories without being obtrusive to the current story. Enjoy!
