    Amusing angle to Australian history

Truth is often stranger and more amusing than fiction, Australia case in point. Girt kept me awake in awe and amusement, history class never seemed to.

    What a ripper!

Best book on Aussie history I have read in 60 years. Brought many smiles to my face, mate. Looking forward to vol. 2.

A good read which will have you laughing out loud.

Well researched and written with plenty of tongue in cheek humour as one would expect given the author. Grabs you enough to look for his next book, True Girt.

    Thoroughly enjoyable

A good easy read - but not a guilty pleasure as there is some decent history in there alongside what is essentially a roast of all the major characters of early colonial history
