  • Widening the circle

Marian's has been an eventful life, from determined teenager to experienced aviator. With WWII behind her she sets out to circle the globe north to south, flying over both poles, a challenging and dangerous undertaking. She leaves her log on the Ross Ice Shelf, heads off on the final leg - and disappears. A 21st century starlet, in disgrace with her sponsors, is asked to play Marian in a movie based on her life. You'd think they could not be more different. But parallels in their life circumstances draw the actor into a deeper investigation of Marian's life and fate. This is a long book- about 600 pages, and a crowded canvas. Following its threads requires your concentration. But it's as beautifully constructed as it is beautifully written. A vivid, absorbing book and a satisfying read.

    Thanks for your feedback!
