  • Welcome to South Cove

This is a wonderfully written 'first' in a series. Cahoon creates a vibrant setting and fun/colourful stock characters that I found reminiscent of the sort of characters you might meet in Stars Hallow (GG)... but with a little more murder on their minds. This first book has a bit too much exposition in the hopes of getting the reader to learn about Jill, but its never too much, and Cahoon's later books definitely move away from that tactic. That having been said Jill is a great leading lady, book shop owner and amateur detective. She's very accessible and likeable. As for mystery itselft? A great cozy. Lots of angles and red herrings. All in all, an incredibly enjoyable book and series.

One of the best cozy series on the market. Well written and absolutely delightful. A top notch whodunit!

  • Guidebook to Murder

Great light read. It keeps you guessing until the end. A perfect blend of funny and serious. You can't help rooting for the main charcters, most of them anyway.

  • Murder by the book

Disappointed. Jill was depicted as having smarts but when Jill doesn't take seriously the death threats, it makes her not only stupid but unbelievable. Also, why do we women seem to be depicted forlorn for a man or sex crazy?

  • Good story

It was a good story. Some bits of it seemed to drag for me though. Might not do that for other readers.
