    Absolutely entertaining 😊

Fen . . . Fen . . . Fen . . . swoosh went the sword that Wolfe gifted, now she must move on. Bloodlings, Halfies now pure breeds, together as one, watching, protecting devoted to each other. Enters a masculine domineering hulk of a man powers to stop you in place voted ‘nay or yay.’ Cowboy looks suave persona, voted ‘yay’ now things turn around and action begins. I was fooled and deceived which absolutely caught me by surprise. Halfies hunted and halfie she is, Fen will defend and others will too. Ginger is flippant funny, strong opinionated and soooooo promiscuous. Not what you think, okay maybe a little. I was floored by Ginger’s actions, I laughed so hard that it wasn’t funny, nah . . . it was and still is funny. Hunter caught on but Fen didn’t, still a low growl emitted the air. Oh, forgot to mention Glenn got me curious, low key but followed Fen to protect her, hmm . . . Aimee what about Glenn? The author wrote with such vigor of fluidity that each scene danced around my mind, either I was left laughing, or getting angry at Fen’s stupid ‘oops,’ I mean stupor wolf or angry at the other characters. I had to constrain myself from saying a lot of things , it will behoove you to get the book and read it for yourself. Intrigue holds the cards here and when it does show its hand, you will be stupefied like how I felt after reading this story. Did I like this story? You betcha, I was floored, I was entertained. Thank you to the author who provided me with a free digital download in exchange for an honest review and this is my honest review. Thank you, Darlene Cruz

    Great story!

Good story. Fen was whiny and refused to see her wolf's strength and her own weakness. But with head held high, she tries her best to lead a small pack without relying on her wolf. There is a lot of action as things get difficult for them. Plus she tries to come to terms with her mate being who he is. The book was well written and am looking forward to see where Fen goes from here.

Better if read after Rampant Wolf trilogy but not

This is the first book following Fen who was a good character in the Rampant Wolf trilogy (Shiftless, Pack Princess and Alpha Ascendant). It would be possible to read this without having read the Rampant Wolf books but I think the background in them helps with Fen's story. If you enjoy a story with a feisty female lead who doesn't take herself too seriously which is written with a good sense of humour then I would definitely recommend.

Promising start to fun new series...

This story was so much fun. It will grab your attention from the very beginning and take you on a fast-paced adventure following a newly appointed pack leader, Fen, who is struggling with her new position leading a small pack of diverse and interesting shifters. As if that wouldn’t cause enough stress, she is forced into a position of playing the part of a brave warrior who must save two young female shifters from a gruesome fate despite having a rather submissive and timid wolf as her alter ego. There is no shortage of challenges for Fen to overcome and the journey was filled with action, adventure, passion, betrayal, humor, and an entire spectrum of emotions that made the story engaging and difficult to put down. I like to read along in a book while listening to the audio version so that is what I did with this story. I felt the narrator of the audio version could have done better with the tempo of the reading (she was very slow, especially at the beginning) and I did not agree with some of her choices of inflection which I felt made certain sentences awkward, but none of these issues were enough to ruin the experience for me. She did give distinctive intonations and accents to the various characters to help distinguish them and I always appreciate narrators making that kind of effort. As with so many shifter stories, there are some rather steamy scenes. There is also some violence, but it is not described in graphic detail. Overall, a wonderful start to a series that promises to captivate and entertain. If you have read the Wolf Rampant series, you should enjoy how beautifully the author ties this first installment into the other series. If you haven’t read it, however, I don’t see any reason why you can’t fully enjoy this story because the author carefully crafts passages with enough information to inform the reader of past significant events without getting mired in unnecessary detail that might detract from the current story. Looking forward to more from this series.
