  • A history of exploration in Australia..

The title suggests this book is about Hume, but he actually figures only rather briefly. The author perhaps could have used a different title, but this woud do a great injustice to Hume. We do get a birdseye view of early exploration, injustice to aborigines and chinese, development of the pastoral industry, govenors, bushranging and gold rushes. So all in all it is a very enjoyable read. Having seen countless monuments to Hume & Hovell I will now regard them with even greater respect. Hamilton Hume was a great pioneer and friend of the aboriginal people.

    Thanks for your feedback!
