  • Will she allow herself, love?

Can a lady who cannot love again because of her loss and ship captain find happiness together? That is the question answered in this charming tale. I liked the characters in this one Devlin was an outstanding hero yes there will be a scandal and a marriage but also a man set to win the lady he is married to. Cassandra our lady who was ruined years earlier is now given a choice will she allow herself to be happy? This was an emotional tale that will touch your heart. I also love the cover. I am so happy to recommend this lovely tale. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

  • My Musings

Thanks go to the author and Net Galley for a complimentary copy of Her Seafaring Scoundrel for the purpose of reading and reviewing prior to publication. A Regency romance and book 3 The Crawfords. My opinions are my own and no one has influenced me in any way. Her Seafaring Scoundrel is an emotionally charged reading experience with engaging character and an intriguing plot. The pacing is fantastic and kept me enmeshed in the story from start to finish. Lady Cassandra’s character is endearing. She stole my heart from the start. She has not had an easy time. Her betrothed died days before their marriage and she found out she carried his child. Her parents and society cast her off. Her brother buys her cottage where she takes in orphans and other women who find themselves in a similar situation to her. She spends her life running her orphanage and her daughter. She will do anything to ensure Penelope’s happiness. Devlin Crawford is our hero and is a great character. He’s spent years roaming the high seas, never spending more than a few weeks in England. When he arrives at his brother’s ducal residence, he agrees to attend his ball. He defends Lady Cassandra’s honor and informs the gossip they are betrothed. Although he has no plans to live in England, he does want to protect Cassandra. He has admired her from afar for years. The romance between Cassandra and Devlin is a rocky road with plenty of emotions going on between them. Cassandra has mourned her Timothy and doesn’t want a true marriage, but the attraction between her and Devlin is too strong to ignore. There’s fantastic sexual tension between them. There’s a totally unexpected twist, which makes this a fantastic read! If you enjoy Regency romance with amazing characters and an emotionally charged plot, then you will love Her Seafaring Scoundrel as much as I. Ms. Barnes is a talented author, and I’m so glad I agreed to read this. It had been some time since I’d read one of her books. I will be reading the prior books in this great series. Happy reading!

  • The Captain and His Lady

Devlin Crawford is a sea captain who is home briefly for a visit. He is not the marrying kind because he has chosen a life of adventure on the seas. When he arrived in England, he went to Caleb’s home, excited to see Caleb’s children again. To his surprise, not only his brother is there, but his mother as well as a family friend, Cassandra Moor. His mother quickly announced that Caleb and Mary will be hosting a ball which Devlin, of course, must attend! Although Cassandra tried to avoid events such as this, she agreed to attend for a short time. As she tries to sneak away early, Devlin invites her to dance with him, and that started the tongues wagging since Cassandra’s reputation had been ruined years ago. But Devlin, who has always liked Cassandra, overheard the obnoxious remarks and, to defend her, blurted out that Cassandra was to be his wife! It is not an easy matter to convince the lady, but he finally gets her to agree to her terms -- he must not expect to consummate their marriage. (For some lunatic reason), she feels she would be dishonoring the memory of her deceased fiancé! He is sure they can make it work, and perhaps with the help of Cassandra’s wonderful daughter, it just might! Will Cassandra go along with Devlin’s proposal? Is she ready to join a life of adventure at sea, traveling the world? Or will she walk away and risk those wagging tongues attacking both of them? I really loved this book. And although I greatly admired Cassandra, there comes a time when you must say goodbye to an old love who has died and open your heart to another who loves you. Thirteen years is a long time to grieve at that intensity. Grab your copy and see if Cassandra will accept Devlin’s love and the new life he promises!

  • Wonderful

This is the first book I've read by this author. I loved and enjoyed this book tremendously. Now, I have to read the first two books in this series. I can't wait! I've added Sophie Barnes to my TBR list. I felt Cassandra and Devlin were well-developed. They were easy to like. I enjoyed witnessing their relationship grow and their story unfold. Their story had a beautiful flow. It was paced perfectly. I volunteered to read an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion which I'm voluntarily leaving.

  • Fun, easy read!

Loved this easy read love story! Devlin is a sea captain, sailing for nine months at a time. He returns home for a months time to see his family and reload the ship. On his last trip home, his mother manipulates him into dancing at a family ball. He decides to dance with Cassandra, a family friend who had a child out of wedlock 13 years prior. While gossip starts to fly, and ugly insults are hurled, Dev finds himself declaring he is engaged to Cass, of course she doesn't know about the upcoming wedding. Can the two find a way to overcome their past ghosts, love one another, and live happily ever after? I loved the characters, plot and easy flow of the story. I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
