    Don't buy unless it's 2.99 or less

I just don't think it was her best. The story seemed to drag on and on when it could have ended. No worth the time and I regret buying it.

    Historical Scottish Romance

Coming into a long running series can leave a reader lost sometimes but definitely not this time. I did not need to know anybody else in the series to fully understand and enjoy this book. I take my hat off to an author that can keep the impetus of a series running so long without losing fans for the series. Having never read this author before I do have to say I will look forward to reading more books by her in the future. Callum has been severely beaten and left for dead when Bethoc finds him half in and half out of the water. She gets him to safety then cares for him surreptitiously while also managing to take care of those in her care. The man that has acted in the place of her father is an abusive, alcoholic, selfish, unreasonable man – man she fears. Both Callum and Bethoc have had difficult childhoods but find solace in the company of one another as he heals. When Bethoc is accused of murdering her step-father and put into prison her life becomes even worse. Callum and his friends come to her aid, uncover a nefarious plot and put the perpetrators into the hands of the law. There are additional side plots that are equally interesting and well-constructed with supporting characters in abundance and no doubt people who have played parts in previous books. BUT the heart of this story is love whether it is healing, nurturing, caring, familial, or some other type. Recognizing and acknowledging love while offering it freely can make all the difference in life. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. Note: Bethoc was such an unusual name I had to look it up and found that there is a historical figure of that name…and I even found a site that told me how to pronounce it two different ways. 4.5 Stars

Through rough beginnings, love can grow

Bethoc is a strong young lady who lives a life of beatings, yet loves those around her. She is trusting and has a gift for knowing things about people. Callum also came from a brutal past, but he is loving, honest, loyal, and loved by his people. He battles through his own fears to realize that Bethoc is what he needs and loves. They journey together is full of danger, but they come through it together. I enjoyed this story and recommend it. I received a copy of this story through Netgalley.

    Callum's Tale

Callum is wounded and left for dead when Bethoc and her little sister find him and manage to hide home away in a cave while he heals. These two have many obstacles to overcome to find their happiness. This is the next book in the Murray series and can be read by itself but it is much better read in order to immersion into the Scottish life and flavor of those times. Always enjoy the characters and family connections with this author along with the humor intertwined in the story. Looking forward to see who is going to have his tale told next. Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks.

    Not Her Best

I really felt like she rushed through writing it. The normal Murray charm wasn't there and her "gift" wasn't mentioned until later. Felt like an after thought.
