  • Great read

Love is in the air again at the magical Castle Mountain Lodge. Although Ryan Morrison has seen many couples fall in love there, he doesn't think it's in the cards for him. That is until Julie Pitts and her matchmaking daughter Shay arrive at the lodge. Ryan is attracted to Julie immediately but can he get her to stop working long enough to notice him??? Great story with very interesting characters! Definitely a great holiday read that I would recommend to everyone.

  • Great Holiday Read

Once again Elena Aitken has put her talent as an author to the pages and came up with another fantastic, sweet, tender story that I couldn’t put down. This time it even had the beauty of Christmas and Castle Mountain Lodge added to it to make it even better. I have read the other Castle Mountain Lodge Romance books and this just fit in nicely but you could read this as a standalone as well. Holiday Gifts is about a single mom, Julie, raising a teenage young lady Shay. Julie decided to give her daughter a great Christmas memory by going to Castle Mountain Lodge and doing a special crafting retreat. Castle Mountain Lodge has the reputation of being a place where people fall in love and Shay has it on her mind that this might work out for her mom so when she sees handsome Ryan Morrison who is the Customer Service Manager, she sorta pushes him towards her mom. Sparks do fly but nothing is easy. The book is great, the characters are all very well written as in all of Aitken’s books and it’s just a delightful book to read for the holiday season. I was given the book to read for an honest review and it has nothing to do with my review. I look forward to more books in the Castle Mountain Lodge series.

  • Christmas Holiday Season To Find The Gift Of Love!

"Holiday Gifts" is the seventh book in the series, "Castle Mountain Lodge" by Elena Aitken. I had high hopes for this book because the premise was so wonderful. Plus, I really like this authoress. However, I was slightly disappointed. Busy mom, business owner and craft-maker extraordinaire, Julie is a giving, sweet, helpful and very open character. The way that she cares for her daughter Shay is endearing. As the reader gets to know Julie, you are in her corner and cheering for her to find whatever her heart desires. Castle Mountain Lodge Event Manager, Ryan is an even-keel and responsible man who is looking for love. However, he has yet to be so lucky even though he lives in the place where romance brews throughout the year in the midst of mountains. He is on the verge of losing faith until Julie appears. I loved the chemistry between these two and the events that lead up to the meet and development of feelings were great. Many a times, I was smiling and/or giggled. The first half of the book had me enthralled. However, Julie's insecurities and her creating issues where they didn't exist, really got annoying. This book had no particular angst and was developing into a sweet romantic story. But as a reader, I had a feeling that the authoress thought it was important to develop some sort of perturbation. Unfortunately, it was an afterthought, ruined Julie's character that was so candid and was unnecessary. It lasted a few chapters but once the book got back on track, it was still great. The supporting character of Eva was back. If you have read other books by Elena Aitken, then for the holiday stories, Eva has particular hook, that is awesome! I did enjoy the humour and the heartfelt emotion in the story. Also, the characters and the theme of the book were wonderful. I just didn't like the unimportant issue that was created. Still, the book was a good read! Not disappointed yet with this series or the authoress.
