  • A sense of homecoming

Although this is the 2nd in the Long Road Home series, it can be read on its own – but it will send you off to find the first and wait anxiously for the next one! I think what I felt most in this book is a sense of homecoming, of unity, and of the power of people standing together. It’s a delightful moment when John realizes who the teacher is with whose class he’s been corresponding. Lucy is a joy as well, with so many points of interest in common with John, and their friendship and relationship develop along with his involvement with her class. The danger she’s in comes as a shock, but it also means that the Lighthouse Security crew get involved – and there’s another bonus; John becomes another Keeper (can’t wait to see more of him in future LSI books). This is a must-read for all fans of Maryann Jordan’s writing and series, and I’m sure I’m not the only reader that will be sad to have it end. The background is in the blurb – suffice it to say this is a purchase you won’t regret.

  • John and Lucy

John and Lucy are so sweet! This was a great and heartwarming story. John and Lucy were destined to be together, even if they didn’t know it. John struggles with his return home and how best to fit back into every day life. Lucy is so uplifting and supportive. A little suspense sprinkled in. HEA.

  • A great addition to this series

This is the second book in this wonderful series that centres around five military personnel all stranded in an airport due to a blizzard each is facing a future out of the military The first book in the series was My Hearts Home the story of Cameron the older member of them who gave the other four the advice to find a reason to live something he did himself when he found Mercy Cahill and a future in Hope City This time we get John Roster's story he has left the military and he is returning to his family roots in Maine not knowing what his future holds other than helping his aging grandfather the one thing that he has had while overseas was letters from a teacher and students from the school in his home town. Mistakenly believing the older lady in the photos of the class is the teacher he is stunned when he actually meets the real teacher and falls in love Has he found part of his future but what will he do for a living You are in for a surprise as John finds his place in life and a new group of brothers

  • Great homecoming

Great story and tie-in to one of the author's series. This book deals well with the restlessness and indecision that comes when something important and long-term suddenly comes to an end. As a fellow retired teacher I can really appreciate the ties to a school and the great project Lucy's students took part in, and where that led, plot-wise. I'm looking forward to the other books in the series with the idea that they will also link to one of each author's series.
