  • A grown up fairy story

    An unusual story of good, evil and love. You are never too sure who is the good guy. Has a spark of originality about it that is unfortunately lacking in the current climate of homogenised, current fad led fiction.

  • "Horns" by Joe Hill

    The first few lines got my attention. I thought, "hello!" Bought the tittle right away. The story is full of pain and sadness, not to mention horrible and unlikeable characters. I haven't decided whether the protagonist (or antagonist, depends on which way you swing) has any redeeming qualities. Did he get stronger? Could he not get stronger? There wasn't a clear good-vs-evil through-line, but there moments when the reader was given a quick glimmer of hope but no. Yet the story is quite engrossing when it finally reaches the climax of the story. I would like to see a sequel for Ignatius. There's still so much story there.

  • Horns

    An awesome read, witty and yet sad in places, a clever combination to achieve, I feel. Flashes of true horror mixed with an unpredictable twisting plot. This is well written to the end and would make a great movie.

  • A++ book

    Read it. You won't regret it. Joe Hill writes so beautifully, you're sucked in until the very last word.

  • Dark and Hauntingly Beautiful

    I've always been a fan of Stephen King, but his son casts deep shadows on King's writing. Hill employs some amazing visual's to keep the reader gripped; he brings a dark humour to an otherwise haunting tale of love, friendship and regret.
