  • An incredible, true story. Great read.

I enjoyed this book immensely! I had a little trouble getting started due the author’s “manner of speaking”, but once I got used to him, I became enthralled. I was blown away by this man’s accomplishments, even just up to the age of 22 ( I cringe at the memories of my own pampered rise to adulthood!). At 22, Libby finds himself in Canada, just at the onset of the First World War. He enlists as a private soldier in the Canadian forces, beginning his improbable, but true, journey through this terrible conflict, which ends with Libby as a full-fledged fighter pilot set to train young American would-be pilots. He is the first American ace, and is, albeit largely forgotten, a bone fide hero. A wonderful story.

  • Great Book

This autobiography gave me a detailed look at life in the Royal Flying Corps in 1916 and 1917. I found the story to be fascinating!

  • Excellent and highly recommended for any general r

Unusual and entertaining coverage of a little-known subject. Author's style is informal but straightforward and authoritative. One of the most engaging accounts of the subject that I have seen.

  • I loved this memoir!

This memoir by an extraordinary man whose early years were spent as a cowboy and later life as a fighter pilot in WWI. He provides an honest, literate, and delightful view of both parts of his life. I loved this book!
