  • A Must Have Dragon Fantasy

Books like this are the reason I adore fantasy at its core. It gave me everything I want, from dragons to adventure to a hint of romance, all backed by a cast of eccentric and loveable characters. I absolutely loved it and am so excited to see where it goes after that final stinger at the end. The story starts of simple, with the tournament to become emperor or empress. But things quickly spiral out of control and after shocking discoveries are made, the plan unravels. Cluess masterfully added at least one twist to every chapter, sometimes even more! The blurb focuses on the characters, as it should, because they all steal the show in one way or another. I can’t narrow down who I enjoyed reading more! Emilia is a great hero, though quite dangerous, Lucian is the sweetest of soldiers, Vespir is perfection, Ajax is surprisingly vulnerable at times, and Hyperia is absolutely terrifying. All of them together made for an amazing reading experience. The book had amazing dragon chases and danger, especially near the end. I could not stop reading and want the next book as soon as I can get my hands on it! This is a return to classic fantasy where dragons dominate the page, and I cannot recommend it enough to anyone looking for an adventure with memorable characters and their majestic creature companions.

  • Really good. A must read.

A good read. The ideas in the story are very good and shows how people perceive themselves and this is not always as others perceived them. The way these 5 people use their supposed skills and strive to achieve success is really good. Can't recommend this book enough.

  • Solid Read

A new imaginative spin on dragons that was a solid, satisfying read that leaves room for the story to continue.

  • Interesting book

I felt conflicted after reading this. I liked Hyperia most. However, she went crazy in yhe end. I hate Emilia. She is a Chaotic, born to be evil & ruthless. She was the best because of her power. That's why she won. Or else Hyperia would have won. Hyperia was strong, determined, pretty, smart, and had the ability to be able to get what she wanted. Her parents were useless. I mean why hang themselves for Julia, who couldn't even fight back? I envy Veispir, or how do you spell it, for her "power" with dragons. For Ajax, he was just a commoner, a petty thief, nothing more. Lucian was my second favourite character. He's so kind and all those. Emilia DOES NOT desearve him I really like Jessica's books, espiacally the other series, like: a flame bright and burning, a poison dark and drowning, bla bla bla. They were the best, and I recommend it WAY more than this. No offense to Jessica, of course.
