  • Rollercoaster ride of emotions!

Totally sucked into this story that I could not put it down until I was done. Beth is a marriage counselor, her long term partner Richard recently cheated on her, Leaving her to be full time primary parent to their son Charlie. Things in Beth’s life majorly change when she meets Danielle, face covered with burn scars, successful attorney trying to save her marriage and having a baby. But Danielle doesn’t share everything with Beth, like secrets from her past, tragic events with her parents and scars hidden on her wrists. The questions about Danielle’s life are many. What really happened at the BBQ the day she suffered third degree burns on her face? Is her husband trying to hurt her? Or is there something more she is just not sharing with Beth? Beth has her own challenges. She is still mourning the loss of the love of her life Nick prior to meeting Richard. In the past she lost a teaching position she loved and ended up in the hospital because she was convinced someone was following her. Was someone actually following her then and is it starting again? Is someone trying to change the course of her life? Will Danielle tell her the truth? Is it possible Richards affair occurred with Danielle? Thank you Netgalley for my complimentary copy. Thoughts and opinions are my own. When a book grabs ahold of you on page 1 and doesn’t let go until the last, you have highly recommend it. Loved the many twists and turns and the revelation as the story unfolds.

  • psychological thriller?

I received an ebook Advanced Readers Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I would like to thank the author, publisher and net Galley for the opportunity to read and review this book. And I really do mean that, I do really appreciate the authors and publishers, working with Net Galley, allowing me a chance to read and review these books. Which makes it really hard when I really, really don't like the book, And that's the case here, sadly. With the description of the book and all of the high star reviews of the book, and some of the reviews I scanned before requesting the book, I thought I was in for a good white-knuckle-grip/bruise my kindle book ride. After the first few chapters, I thought I'd downloaded the wrong book, looked it all up and re-loaded the book. But I didn't have the wrong book - it just wasn't "that book" for me. To be honest, I spent a few years reading nothing but psychological thrillers like this book. And after a while, they all melt together in my mind. There are very few differences from one to the other a lot of the time, so much so that I can't really recall details of one versus the other later on. I looked it up, and I haven't read anything by this author before, but for me, this book read like every single other book of the genre. It was slow going, boring in parts, and oh! The complaints! Oh my goodness the complaining! It drove me out of my mind. I'm also not a fan of the whole set up with 2 POV's switching every few pages. This annoys me - just about the time I get into 'ok, this is this character' we switch. I understand both characters are supposed to have a lot of similarities for the story line, but they are SO similar at points, I'd forgotten which I was reading. I'm really sorry to rate this book so low. I feel bad about that. But it's just really not the book for me. I have read a few psychological thrillers that were really exciting and page turners, so I don't hate on all of the genre, and from the description, I'd expected this to be one of the good ones. If you don't read lots of thrillers of this sort, you'd probably enjoy the book. If this sort of book is your regular book diet - maybe not so much. I'm rating this book 2 out of 5 stars, which for me is "it was ok".

  • You’ll never see it coming!

This twisty psychological thriller is told in two voices. Beth is a marriage counselor, mother to young Charlie and recently separated from her husband Richard, a professor who has had an affair with one of his students. Her newest client is Danielle, a lawyer married to Peter. Their marriage is having problems because she wants a baby and Peter does not. Danielle also has disfiguring scars from an accidental fire caused by Peter’s carelessness. Both women have been psychologically damaged by events in the past. Both are guarding deep secrets. Neither is the woman she presents herself to be to the world. As this mystery moves quickly through the alternating chapters, their secrets are gradually revealed. Without spoilers, all I can say is that there are many clues leading to the surprising conclusion but you still won’t see it coming. This is a don’t answer the phone, turn off the TV and stay awake to finish book! I loved it. I was sure I knew what was coming but Ruth Heald kept the suspense fresh until the last page. 5 stars. Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Ruth Heald for this ARC>

  • Everyone Has a Secret

I Know Your Secret is a quick read, psychological thriller, about two women, both hiding secrets from their past. This book has a good amount of twists and turns, but I did find it to be pretty predictable. I also didn’t connect well with any of the characters, as none were really very likable at all. I did like the alternating characters narrating, and found the book to be written well overall. The ending was a bit of a surprise, but overall, I was underwhelmed with this one. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
