  • Didn’t Expect This One...

Agent Kate Wise is still on her journey of finding balance. I feel that this book centers around Kate’s struggles: work/life balance, mentor/mentee, old/young, past/present. While still impulsive, Kate has finally learned to let go and let her partner, DeMarco learn by leading. Yet she also feels like she hasn’t done everything she wants or needs to do in so far as teaching DeMarco. Kate realizes that she is older but doesn’t really want to have to make the conscious choice to leave the bureau yet secretly hopes for an external cause her to have to leave. She doesn’t want to give up and feels like she would be a failure. Blake Pierce delivers an ending that could definitely change the entire storyline.

  • If She Feared

Love the character Kate Wise although she has a younger partner DeMarco who is a much younger version of Kate Rise, smart, tough and likeable but with her own set of inner strengths and issues. Will be interesting to see where Blake takes both characters. As always loved the book and can't wait for the next one.

  • Editing needed

With each successive book in the series the editing has gotten worse and has become such a distraction that I can't read the next book. I hesitated downloading this book. Simple spelling errors, wrong words, wrong tenses, wrong pronouns, and even double words. Sometimes it would be okay for a whole chapter and then the next chapter it would be every page. Story editing as well. Kate drove her own car to the investigation, an entire chapter devoted to the drive. She arrives at the murder scene and from then on Kate and DeMarco share a vehicle. I kept wondering if they would suddenly realize that they had two cars but no, they drive home in one. I am also so tired of her struggles with her age. Get over it! Is this really what a male writer thinks a strong woman thinks about aging. She just became pathetic. Sorry, you lost me. I may try one of your other books with a male lead but I need a break.

  • Wish there were more

This is what a mystery murder book should be. Fast.
