    A good choice

This particular book has enlightened me about the war in an area that I visited on my 80th birthday and I recall most of the village/town names. It's very well written and I congratulate the writer for keeping me on the edge of my seat for quite a few days. Many thanks for that

You can actually feel the fear!!

Many books have been written about WWII, and some are excellent, such as this book. The author gives you a first hand look at what happens at the height of battle, the loss of life, the bloodshed, and the absolute horror of being on the front line. It also lets you see many of the things that go on behind the lines, the decision making, patient care, etc. This is a well written book, and I would highly recommend it.

    A thrilling read.

A real page turner. A sobering perspective on the shortcomings of infantry training for a C/O when in combat conditions and leading green replacements under fire. One of the better WW2 memoirs I’ve read and would highly recommend to anyone who’s I interested in military history.
