  • To call this story "wooden" would be unfair to trees

I confess I only finished this because I found myself with no other pastime in a place without wifi (so unable to download something else to read). The plot is fine, but would be better told as a short story in a quarter of the length of this book. The repetition is frequent and tedious, and can only have been included either (a) because the author is contracted to write a minimum number of words or (b) because the intended audience is assumed to be so forgetful that things have to be repeated at the start of each chapter. The story telling lacks any verve at all. The personal relationships that thread through the book are utterly predictable, based on stereotypes. No wonder the author is offering to give his other books away for free..... Sorry, but this one really is poor.

    Thanks for your feedback!
